Copenhagen Legal Aid was founded in 1885 and is an independent legal aid organisation without links to any political or other interests. Copenhagen Legal Aid is the largest organisation of its kind in Denmark serving more than 16,500 clients each year.
Through the voluntary work of over 180 lawyers and law students, the legal aid is able to provide free legal assistance to any individual regardless of their place of residence, provided that their income is below a certain level. The employees of the Legal Aid work in a broad variety of public authorities, law firms and private companies and therefore jointly posses a broad specialist knowledge in many different legal areas.
Contrary to most other free legal services in Denmark, the Legal Aid does not only provide verbal advice, but provides assistance until the case is solved and where necessary takes the case to court via the lawfirms that cooperate with the Legal Aid.
