The Digital Health Activity (DHA), which is supported by USAID, is an initiative that aims to help Ethiopia improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services by deploying data-driven and patient-centered digital solutions.
DHA, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and partners such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Funded Data Use Partnership, is assisting in the development of sustainable, adaptable, and interoperable health information systems (HIS) that ensure the entire health sector has access to the data, analytics, and skills needed to improve the health and well-being of all Ethiopians. This is accomplished by DHA pursuing three goals:
Digitization
Deployment of various digital tools that:
Enable healthcare providers to deliver standardized services
Capture health data to provide data-driven services
Data Use
Make informed decisions through data-driven analysis
Improve access to health services through remote care and consultations
Empower patients to control their care with digital health solutions
Capacity Building
Improve service delivery by empowering competent and caring health care providers
Nurture private sector, academia and tech start-ups to bolster digital health ecosystem for sustainability.
