We formed LeftLion in 2003 as a collective of journalists, photographers, illustrators, designers
and web developers who felt that no-one was giving Nottingham the media coverage it deserved.
LeftLion magazine quickly became the de facto alternative media outlet of choice in Nottingham. Unlike the competition - who often rely on syndicated copy - we generate 100% original articles about our city and its people. We do this in both printed and online formats.
Our team now consists of more than 200 of the region's best writers, photographers, illustrators and designers - who usually create work for the BBC, The Guardian, Channel 4, The Daily Mirror, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Nike, Pepsi Cola and Paul Smith.
But we do far more than just run a magazine and website. We've hosted music, art and spoken word events. We've helped raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity by our involvement with festivals such as Drop In The Ocean, Hockley Hustle and Splendour. We produce our own range of merchandise and we've even had a beer brewed for us.
Most importantly, we've created the most recognisable independent brand in Nottingham. It’s an identity that has attracted kudos and attention right across the board. As well as countless local independent brands, we’ve worked with Carlsberg, Gatecrasher, Rock City, Reading Festival, Jim Beam, Firetrap and Nottingham City Council.
