We’re a mobile first company building products for 90% of India that doesn’t speak English. We built a video sharing app called ‘Samosa’. More than 500 million videos have been shared through our Android and iOS apps so far. We’re building toolset to enable discovery and spread of rich, entertaining Indian language video.
Our user base: We're growing 40% month over month. Our users spend an average of 15 minutes per day on the app. 55% of our daily active users share/download videos. We’ve grown ten times in last six months. We have achieved all of this growth with zero marketing spend.
Growth ahead: We’re dominant in south Indian languages such Telugu and Tamil. We’ve a proven growth track record in those two markets. We’re launching our product all major Indian language in next few months. We expect grow another ten times in next six months.
Business model: In an era cluttered promotions and ever reducing attention spans, Samosa offers a smart solution go viral on WhatsApp in shortest span of time. Brands looking for high recall among their audience work with us to spread their stories among WhatsApp. There is also huge interest in film fraternity to promote their movie products on Samosa.
Company background: Started in 2015, we’re a buzzing start-up based out of Hyderabad. We recently closed a Series A round from top flight VCs - Sequoia Capital and Xiaomi. We’re a team of engineers that are among the best. They worked at Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Factset before joining here. Our team speaks seven different Indian languages. Our teammates are also athletes, filmmakers, artists and designers.
