Unnati is a tech-enabled employment exchange for the bottom of the pyramid. Our goal is to connect India's vast informal sector workforce to jobs in their area.
More than 90% of India's workforce works in the informal sector. This 'bottom of the pyramid' workforce mostly works as helpers in nearby businesses and households (factory workers, salesboys, delivery boys, office boys, drivers, cooks, maids, etc.). However, both hiring and job-hunting remain a huge challenge in the informal sector. Existing technology-based tools such as naukri.com, linkedin are ineffective as they do not address the specific needs of this workforce.
Both hiring and job-hunting in the informal sector is primarily driven by personal references - where one helper refers another helper for a job. Unnati has built a 'referral network' of thousands of people at the bottom of the pyramid. We use a mix of technology and fieldwork to mobilize this referral network and connect job seekers to job opportunities in their area.
Unnati is founded by experienced industry professionals with 30+ years of experience in companies like Accenture Management Consulting, Axa, etc. Unnati is funded by investors in leadership positions at Zomato and Proptiger.
