The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra / Goulburn has served the community for nearly 200 years across the ACT and surrounding regions, from the South Coast of New South Wales, down to the Snowy and across to Lake Cargellico with a network of stores and volunteer conferences.
It is a lay volunteer-based charity that offers a ‘hand up’ to people experiencing disadvantage in our community with compassion and respect.
The St Vincent de Paul Society’s most recognisable services are the Vinnies Retail Centres or shops, which are the first point of contact for people who need a helping hand not to mention a one-stop-shop for pre-loved clothing and wares. Proceeds raised from the shops goes to support those in need in the community through our range of programs and services.
Funds raised from the community also helps the local community and funding our other support services, which include:
- homeless services
- youth programs and camps for children experiencing disadvantage
- friendship programs for people living with a mental illness
- budget counselling
- energy efficiency assessments
- food and referral services
- migrant and refugee support
- home visitation
- and more.
The St Vincent de Paul Society provides a safety net for anyone who has no one else to turn to, no matter what their circumstance.
