In 2014, passenger transport giant Go-Ahead and rail specialist software company Assertis joined forces to create OnTrack Retail. Their mission -- to create a new player in the oligopoly* that is online rail ticket retailing -- took just 10 months; a triumph of modern software delivery techniques, blood, sweat and caffeine. Lots of caffeine. We launched to the public in late 2015 with many unique features, a massive backlog, and ideas above our station.
Since then we've gone on to provide a world-class ticket issuing system, industry-leading desktop and mobile interfaces, best-in-class administration systems and a truly innovative Delay Repay solution. Recently we've made our first foray into the wonderful world of buses and we're making moves as an API provider to other developers. In short, there's a lot going on.
If you'd like to visit us for some of the aforementioned caffeine and a chat about software, public transport, or anything else for that matter, then get in touch.
Our professional services team would be keen to discuss any of the following:
- General (transport) product design.
- Ticketing UX and UI design and implementation.
- UK rail industry consultancy.
- Rail industry accreditation consultancy.
- Bespoke system / software design and delivery.
- Development services, including frontend, backend and native mobile specialities.
- QA services, from advanced bespoke automated testing systems to traditional manual testing.
* We didn’t know what it meant either. It’s a state of limited competition, in which a market is shared by a small number of producers or sellers.
