Since January 1987, Africa Muslims Agency has operated in 29 countries in Africa. A key part of the organisation’s mandate has been to institutionalise relief work.
In South Africa, over the past 35 years, Africa Muslims Agency (AMA) has established itself as a trustworthy, dependable organisation that supports the underprivileged on the continent of Africa through winter projects, Ramadaan feeding, disaster relief and more.
Some of the disasters AMA has responded to include Somalia in the 90s, Sudan, Kenya and Mozambique floods as well as drought-stricken areas. Thousands of masjids and water projects have been completed in Niger, Mozambique and Malawi.
In South Africa, we continue to work hard to alleviate the challenges that face our people, focusing on the provision of essentials such as food, toiletries, blankets, sanitary packs and stationery, and we remain responsive to the need on the ground, adapting our offering to the greatest need, such as the provision of masks, sanitizers and medication during Covid-19 waves.
The organisation has grown over the years, expanding to many countries beyond those in Africa. We have operations in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Burma, Turkey and Yemen amongst others.
