newportFILM is a nonprofit, year-round documentary film series based in Newport, Rhode Island. Screening impactful, critically-acclaimed nonfiction films, newportFILM, since its founding in 2010, has built a robust and appreciative audience by showcasing current documentary films, many curated from major festivals throughout the United States. newportFILM actively engages community partners to localize themes presented on screen, facilitating dialogue, creating awareness and sparking change. Through its key programming initiatives, Outdoors, Virtual, Impact, Edu and the Cinematographers Lab, newportFILM endeavors to anchor the Rhode Island community in meaningful exchange through the powerful lens of documentary film.
