New materials, processes and systems for energy generation, storage and distribution are crucial for the future of our planet.
The “Infrastructure for Energy Transition and Circular Economy @ EuroNanoLab” (iENTRANCE@ENL) aims to become the reference research infrastructure at Italian level for research on nanomaterials for energy, processes and devices for green production, energy storage and distribution, characterisation of materials at the micro- and nanoscale, and technologies for the realisation of instruments and systems.
The project focusses its research activities and services on four main topics:
1. Nanomaterials for energy;
2. Processes for material production and transformation
3. Micro and nanoscale characterization systems
4. Technologies for the realization of devices and systems
This infrastructure operates in 6 internationally recognised geographical nodes in complementary research areas coordinated by a Central Hub: Bologna, Rome, Naples, Torino, Catania, Potenza.
iENTRANCE@ENL provides opportunities for research excellence across materials for catalysis, electrodes, thermoelectric, membranes, photovoltaics, and structural materials for combustion, hydrogen and marine renewables. It provides top-level knowhow on micro- and nano-scale structural, compositional, optoelectronic, in-situ and in-operando characterization. Technologies and processes on power electronics, sensing, fuel cells, photovoltaics, batteries, supercapacitors, engines/combustion systems, waste valorisation, (photo)catalysis, recyclability and durability of materials, new fabrication technologies with reduced environmental and energy impact.
The project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU under the NRRP, Mission 4 “Education and Research” - Component 2 “From research to business” - Investment 3.1 “Fund for the realization of an integrated system of research and innovation infrastructures” - Italian Ministry of University and Research.
