aXis Magazine was founded in 1994 by Sean Perry as the weekly Entertainment Section of the UCF Future, becoming an independent Monthly Magazine in January 1995 with Founding Publisher/Editors Derek Krause (Film Editor), Jim Martin (Music Editor), Jason Swancey (Sports Editor) and Dave Bauer, soon adding Tim Springer (Sports Editor) and Mike White (Music Editor) to the fold. The magazine become the source for music, sports and nightlife for the Central Florida area including the UCF, VCC, SCC and Rollins audiences, with the first truly entertaining interviews in Orlando featuring a combination of local stars Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway, Matchbox 20, 7Mary3, and national touring acts such as Sublime, Foo Fighters, along with it's much sought after Annual '20 Coolest People in Orlando' list featuring everyone from the late Wendy Chioji to Tracy McGrady to Representative Val Demmings.
Over the first 5 years of publication many of the Founding Publishers and Editors moved on to larger market publications and media sources throughout the Southeast, with Perry developing the brand solo, while also delving into live music promotion with Local Music Compilations and Showcases, leading to Artist Management with an act on Atlantic Records.
In January 2000, the Magazine welcomed Co-Publisher and Business Partner Rick Wheeler, upgrading the print quality, distribution numbers and web platforms growing the readership and advertising revenue exponentially. Soon after the Magazine established an Event Coordination department assisting in the coordination and activation of events for clients and sponsors.

For 25 years aXis Magazine served the active 18-34 demo of Central Florida as it's source for all things entertaining.
