Our story begins four generations ago when Joseph Zaro carried Jewish baking traditions from Lublin, Poland to Ellis Island and, eventually, to the store he opened in the Bronx in 1927. We stand for New York classics like handmade bagels, challah, and cakes that taste like childhood.
All of our family recipes are made from scratch and certified Kosher (OK Kosher) at our bakery in Elmsford, NY. You can find our great-grandsons behind the counter, assisting in schmear decisions or unloading boxes of rugelach. We welcome new faces every day, for those looking for something sweet, wholesome and that iconic New York bakery experience.
