Zamzee is a project of HopeLab, a philanthropically funded research organization specializing in evidence-based game technologies to improve the health, quality of life and resilience of young people. Zamzee is a research-proven product and program that motivates kids and families to be more physically active. We work with healthcare providers to reach kids most in need of physical activity and at risk for sedentary behavior. We are passionate about helping kids build a lifelong love of physical activity.
As an intervention, Zamzee pairs our wearable activity meter with game mechanics, behavior change science and user-centric design to get kids and their families physically active. A rigorous 6-month impact trial by HopeLab and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation demonstrated Zamzee increased moderate-to-vigorous physical activity by 59%, and showed positive impact on risk factors for diabetes and heart disease. Our team selectively fosters partnerships with healthcare payers, providers and researchers who share our core interest in demonstrating how evidence-based physical activity interventions like Zamzee can deliver health impacts. HopeLab and Zamzee are part of the Omidyar Group philanthropic enterprises.
