What We Do
• YWOM is a comprehensive health and life skills program for middle school and high school girls, many of whom lack the many protective factors that help to assure young people’s healthy development into resilient, capable, and productive adults.
• YWOM strives to instill in each girl a foundation of moral values, character, and an affirming self-belief system as they gain knowledge and skills in decision making and problem solving, physical and mental health, social competency, communication skills, academic and career preparation.
• YWOM provides individualized support and reinforcement through counseling, mentoring, team building, goal setting, and accountability.
• YWOM works with more than 100 girls each year through the Kansas City, KS School District. The headquarters are located at the Wellness Center on the former campus of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, KS. A culinary lab is in the planning phase. It will be a nutritional teaching lab and entrepreneurial center for YWOM members, their mothers, and other teens and adults in the community.
