WHAT THIS IS
hand twisted. small batch. The York City Pretzel Company introduces a new twist on an old standard.
Sure, we use a simple and traditional recipe with the highest-quality flour available, but our pretzels are anything but ordinary. We are making the best tasting soft and hard pretzels you’ll find anywhere- hand-twisted and using high quality ingredients. Do you want to know the best part? We’re doing it in the city we love.
WHERE WE’RE DOING THIS
We come from York County, Snack Food Capital of the World. Pretzels have been around for thousands of years... and some of them taste that way. Nearly every pretzel you know has been touched, prodded, or formed by machine at every step of the manufacturing process. York Pretzels are made by hand in a brick building constructed in 1909, located right in the heart of downtown York City. The home of the York City Pretzel Company is 39 West Market Street, located inside the historic, Dempwolf-designed Rosenmiller Building.
The partners embody the #iloveyorkcity movement (one of them actually helped create it!), which is about sharing experiences, and a sincere, heartfelt love for York City and all that it has to offer. Which now includes pretzels.
This region is a part of who we are as people, and it will be a part of our pretzels. Using locally-sourced ingredients and flavor combinations from an area seasoning house, the products we create are a nod to our roots. We loathe the word “locavore,” but if the shoe fits…
WHY WE’RE DOING THIS
Why pretzels? you ask. Why not? we say.
Like many good ideas, this one started with a few beers at a local bar. Drinking together and munching on bowl after bowl of flavorless cardboard nuggets we decided we do not like most pretzels. And we thought we could do better. Beer and pretzels are a perfect pairing--one that we’re very passionate about. One of us runs beer festivals. One of us partnered with a local brewery to make their own beer. All of us like to drink it. Now we make the perfect pretzel to go with it.
Growing up in this area, we understand the importance of quality snack food. We experimented. We taste tested. We found our recipes. And now we want to share them.
We are York Pretzel Company and we're not your grandma's pretzels.
