The Worcester Tornadoes are an independent baseball team in Worcester, MA. We have played each season since our inception in 2005 as a member of the CanAm League, holding our home games at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field (on the College of the Holy Cross Campus). The Worcester Local Nine is the only independent professional baseball team in Massachusetts.
The Tornadoes provide affordable family fun for everyone in Worcester County and beyond. In between innings, we have games, songs, giveaways and appearances by our mascot, Twister. There are different promotions every single night, themed games (like Irish Night & Movie Night), fireworks, and player meet & greets. We have special rates and benefits for season ticket holders, groups, birthday parties and more.
One former Major Leaguer played for the Tornadoes in 2011 (Abraham Nunez), and one Tornadoes alumni made it to the bigs then as well (Tom Cochran with the Cincinnati Reds). Many of our players have seen action in the minor leagues too, with some reaching as high as AAA or AA.
The Tornadoes Front Office is open Monday-Friday 9-5 when the team doesn't have a home game, and from 9-3 when they do. The Ballpark Box Office is open on home game days from 3 pm-the end of the game. The 2012 season starts May 17 in Newark, with the first home game on Monday, May 21 at 7:05pm.
