Since 1974, Women's Studio Workshop (WSW) has been a thriving visual arts organization with specialized studios in printmaking, hand papermaking, silkscreen, ceramics, letterpress, photography, and book arts.
Our mission is to operate and maintain an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of women and trans, intersex, nonbinary, and genderfluid artists. We provide professional opportunities for artists at various stages of their careers and promote programs designed to stimulate public involvement, awareness, and support for the visual arts.
WSW has substantially advanced the careers of more than 700 artists through this program. WSW also creates professional opportunities for young artists through its internship program; has the highest rated visual arts education program in New York State; hosts cultural tourists through 20+ Summer Art Institute workshops; runs year-round ceramics classes for the local community; and is the largest publisher of handmade artists’ books in North America, having published more than 240 limited-edition works.
