Loss of public and private property due to wildfire in the state of California has increased at an exponential rate over the past five years as a result of drought, forest management practices and increased population located within the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI). Due to the increase in wildfire size and intensity, property owners must take a more active role in the hardening of structural assets to decrease loss due to wildfire.
