An award-winning firm specializing in hospitality, education, and residential design, Wid Chapman Architects (WCA) seeks to instill integrity and unity in spaces by holistically considering their architectural components as well as their interior design elements. WCA has completed domestic and international projects, in New York, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington State, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Malaysia, and Mexico.
The firm is a “preferred designer” for Starwood Hotels and Resorts. WCA’s work has been featured nationally in Contract magazine, Crain's New York Business, Hospitality Design, Interior Design, New York Magazine, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, and internationally in Figaro Japan, Interiors India, International Design (I.D.), and Shotenkenchiku. In 2000, the firm’s three designs for Elixir juice bars in New York City garnered an I.D. Magazine Annual Review Award.
WCA is headed by Wid Chapman, AIA, who received his architectural education at the Rhode Island School of Design. A former chair of the interior design department of Parsons the New School for Design, he currently serves on its senior faculty. Wid has guest lectured in the U.S. as well as internationally in Brazil, the Dominican Republic, France, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. An authority on lifestyle design, he is co-author of the topical books Home Design in an Aging World (Fairchild Books, 2008) and Unassisted Living (Random House, 2011).
