WHITTMANHART was founded in 1984 as an IT consulting firm specializing in ERP and custom development services for emerging and mid-market companies. In 1989 the company created an expansion model that enabled the firm to replicate its core service offerings which took the firm from a single location to a total of 21 offices. WHITTMANHART went public in 1996 and was honored with being the third most successful stock that year. From 1996 thru 1999 the company stock performance was also among the highest performers in the industry, from an initial price of $16/share to $320/share pre-split. The company was acknowledged as one of the fastest growing companies in America by Fortune Magazine in 1997. Over the course of 17 years, WHITTMANHART grew from a small regional firm into an international company.
