WNCCHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to approximately 15,000 patients in Western North Carolina. We are a private, non-profit organization with locations in Buncombe and McDowell counties, as well as a traveling mobile clinic. WNCCHS offers sliding fee scale discounts for all patients and our 340B Pharmacy gives them access to discounted pharmacy services.
As a FQHC, WNCCHS maintains a patient-majority Board of Directors that reflects the people we serve — ensuring that our organization and the care we provide are directly impacted by real patients and members of our community. WNCCHS helps address social determinants of health through a variety of programs. We are the only FQHC NCDHHS Healthy Opportunities network provider in the region. WNCCHS is also the only FQHC in the region with a Medical Legal Partnership, which addresses patients’ health harming legal needs.
WNCCHS provides HIV services to an 18-county service area of Western North Carolina through the Ryan White Program, serving approximately 800 patients. We also provide HIV prevention services and embrace universal HIV testing for all of our patients. The WNCCHS Transgender Health Program provides culturally competent, high quality trans health care to more than 500 patients.
As a Community Health Center, social justice is woven into the fabric of WNCCHS.
