The West Sussex Primary Care Trust is a new Band 4 PCT which came into effect from 1st October 2006. The PCT covers a population of approximately 760,000 and employs between 3,500 and 4,000 staff. For management and administrative purposes the PCT is divided into three Areas, each of which is sub-divided into localities as follows:
• North East Area
o Mid Sussex Locality
o Crawley Locality
o Horsham & Chanctonbury Locality
• South East Area
o Adur Locality
o Worthing Locality
o East Arun Locality
• West Area
o Regis Locality
o Chichester Locality
The purpose of the PCT is to provide a clinically and financially sustainable system of health and social care, where the right care is provided by the right person, in the right place at the right time within the funding available.
