The mission of the West End Seniors' Network (WESN) is to improve the quality of life of adults 55 years of age and older by providing social, recreational, educational and supportive programs and services that foster connection and inclusion in the broader community.
Our vision is a Vancouver West End community that inspires and supports older adults to live involved, vibrant and fulfilling lives.
Founded over 35 years ago, WESN delivers a range of programs and services for older adults to reduce isolation and enable them to remain in their homes and community. Programming activities focus on engagement, socialization, recreation, entertainment, health information, and education. Services include:
- Information and referral
- Peer support
- Housing navigation
- Friendly visiting
- Check-in calls and emails
- Grocery shopping
- Accompaniment to medical appointments
- Transportation to and from medical appointments
- Light housekeeping
- Minor home repair
WESN has three locations:
Barclay Manor
(1447 Barclay Street)
- Barclay Manor is the main location for most of the programs and services offered by WESN.
Kay's Place
(Denman Place Mall, 118-1030 Denman Street)
- Kay's Place is the information and referral site for WESN. It also offers a space where older adults can enjoy a cup of coffee, a newspaper and conversation.
Clothes & Collectibles Thrift Store
(Denman Place Mall, 110-1030 Denman Street)
- WESN also operates the Clothes and Collectibles Thrift Store, with all proceeds supporting WESN programs and services.
