The Waterise subsea desalination plant uses components tested and demonstrated for years in both terrestrial desalination and subsea oil & gas systems. The plant combines the advantages of underwater desalination, mainly free hydrostatic pressure energy and very high-quality raw seawater supply, with the reliability and availability of a conventional plant, providing safe and clean access to fresh water in regions with water stress.
The solution consists of a design of standardized subsea modules with combined production capacity of 50,000 m3/day, manifolded together and connected to land by an umbilical cable that provides energy and communications, and a pipeline for the transport of fresh water to land. Economies of scale can be achieved by deploying multiple modules in the same site for greater production capacities.
Waterise presents a unique value proposition to desalination clients around the world:
• A big positive change for the environment
• Significantly less energy consumption
• Significantly reduced land usage
• Lower water price
• Very high reliability
• Increased safety and security
