The World eSports Council (WeSC) is being organized in response to the rapid growth and expansion of eSports around the world, and specifically to help support, nurture and manage the growth of eSports in emerging markets from across North America to Europe – and beyond.
WeSC is being positioned as the “professional sports association” for eSports. WeSC is a community driven committee with an objective to become the largest organization of eSports Professionals in the world. It is the objective of WeSC to unite the business professionals, teams and players in order to create stability and foster opportunity in our rapidly growing industry.
We are also fostering solutions (see WeSC Projects) for the issues and the related growing pains that have plagued the more mature markets that have already experienced the full integration of professional eSports into their cultures. This allows us to not only garner the knowledge of what works, but also learn from the mistakes as well. As industry professionals and leaders, we can put this knowledge to use to help mold a better industry based on the ethical practices and policies of the committee and community.
By examining what countries like S. Korea have experienced over the last several years, and knowing that territories like North America have already begun integrating professional eSports into their cultures, it’s as if we can look into the future and leverage recent experiences in more developed regions into growth opportunities in our emerging markets.
THE COMMITTEE
The “committee” is not headed up by a person, company or entity, rather is a community of professionals from within the eSports market that contribute to the council in order to help drive the emerging industry and bring stability, regulation and organization to what is currently an unorganized, chaotic and fast moving “trend-turned-industry”.
