VWB Volunteers Without Borders - is a non-profit foundation established in 2011 to provide development funding and volunteer support aimed at leveling the playing field for SME and local community based tourism. It partners with progressive tour operators in different destinations who have joined travel4good a fee based responsible tourism project complete with checks, balances and full transparency, as an alternative to the commission based distribution model that so disadvantages tourism SMEs and related SMEs.
The alliance sees volunteering as a responsible tourism development tool, not a niche market tourism product. The local tour partner covers the admin and overheads costs of VWB's operation, and provides VWB volunteers with accommodation, meals, transport, work permits, visas etc. at competitive rates. Volunteer's fees go direct to the 'operational front line costs' of their missions. Their contributions are supplemented by CSR donor funding from the corporate sector including some of the world's leading most progressive tour operators, who share the same views on the role of volunteering in tourism development as VWB does.
