Vocal Futures is a new foundation that sets out to identify, involve and inspire young people to engage with classical music and in particular large scale choral music, performed in unusual spaces.
Young audiences are an increasingly rare breed in the classical music world. Whilst many organisations have effective education and outreach departments dedicated to capturing and retaining this elusive target market, there is little evidence that these efforts are working beyond the initial stimulus.
Vocal Futures believe that there are a number of key components to attracting, understanding and involving young people in classical music. We believe that we can create a model of best practice to be replicated across the classical music industry.
A vital element of our approach is longitudinal research not just into the views, perceptions and attitudes the young people involved but of those professionals who deliver the experience. We therefore propose to evaluate the effectiveness of what we do with an internationally renowned research team.
We will also track our young people beyond their initial Vocal Futures Experience, giving them opportunities to attend further outstanding concerts and associated events.
