Vital Forsikring ASA is Norway's largest privately owned life and pension insurance company after the merger with Gjensidige NOR Spareforsikring ASA on 9 March 2004. The merged company had total assets of NOK 229 billion at the end of June 2007.
Vital’s registered office is in Bergen, though this is not a traditional head office. Management and main functions are located in both Trondheim and Bergen, while important market functions are located in Oslo. The managing director is Tom Rathke.
Vital’s guiding philosophy is to seek to develop, sell and provide insurance and savings products to companies, public enterprises, local authorities, associations and individual clients.
Vital provides life and pension insurance products to more than 1 000 000 individual customers. Vital covers the insurance requirements of more than 20 000 corporate clients. From 2007 all Norwegian employees have the security that is provided by an occupational pension scheme.
