The Vital Aging Network's mission is to promote self-determination, civic engagement, and personal growth for people as they age, through education, leadership development, and opportunities for connection. Our vision is that people 50+ will be engaged and contributing throughout their lives.
Core Principles:
• Older adults have the power to positively affect the quality of their own lives and the lives of others.
• Older adults are contributors in their communities and society at large.
• Institutions and communities that recognize older adults as assets and contributors benefit from that approach.
• A vital community engages all generations to work together to find the right balance between what is good for the individual and the common good.
• Individuals and communities have an obligation to address and resolve inequities that affect older adults in our society.
• Individuals and organizations should work to identify best practices and sustain practices that contribute to the common good.
