Issued from 15 years of psychometric research in France (CNRS laboratory, ENTPE, Lyon) and in Aalborg University (SBI Lab, Copenhagen, DK), VisualSense is born as an online collaborative tool to facilitate commercial exchanges and co-design tasks through presentation of images and videos to panels of observers. The users can judge, compare, comment design propositions presented to participants (real or computer generated images, short videos).
The process was used at ENTPE for exploring high quality lighting solutions in offices with low lighting consultation. The process of VisualSense was used in a study that was nominated for ELFORSK price in Denmark in 2017. In this study, panels of observers were invited to judge and compare various lighting solutions spaces of schools, offices, hospitals, commercial centers, housing, urban spaces.
The new process developed by VisualSense allows full digitalization of the procedure, instant data processing, reporting at the end of sessions to facilitate exchange between participants. FOCUS Groups can be organized as well, in collective sessions, to discuss design proposals in «peaceful» conditions.
VisualSense offers 4 possible protocols:
1) Manual selection (viewers select one among N proposals)
2) Pair comparisons (2 by 2, for ranking from best to worse)
3) Mutichannel adjustment (viewers change lighting power in real time of each lighting channel)
4) Attribute judgements (viewers comment each proposal, one by one, with value on scale and editing of text)
Sessions end with feedback questions comments and suggestions.
VisualSense is a platform to collectively respond to major challenges today:
- The sobriety of the solutions
- Democracy
- Decision speed
VisualSense makes your conferences more interactive, with the possibility to involve the participants, whether you are physically in a conference room or during a videoconference.
VisualSense sessions can also be played in an autonomous mode online, by invitation.
