Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass and her staff take complaints from the public about Victorian government bodies including:
*State Government departments (eg Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Education and Training, Department of Justice and Community Safety)
*statutory authorities (eg WorkSafe, VicRoads)
*local councils.
We look at whether their actions or decisions were fair and reasonable in the circumstances, timely, lawful and in line with relevant policies and procedures. We can also consider whether a government body's action or decision is compatible with Victoria's Human Rights Charter.
The Ombudsman also investigates serious matters such as misconduct by public officials and poor administration.
