VerdeCare uniquely combines a deep understanding of the utility vegetation industry with innovative ecological thinking. We partner with utilities to unlock perspectives that design predictable cycles, improve reliability, control expenditures, and maximize the benefits of the utility forest.
VerdeCare, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rainbow Tree Company, based in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Our company started as a direct response to Dutch elm disease in the late 1970s, using the latest scientific research at the time to preserve the boulevards of American elms from the destruction of an invasive pest. Today, our hometown has an impressive number of mature elms with sprawling canopies still protected from this deadly disease due to our commitment to tree health.
Our roots in the science of tree care run deep. We believe the industry is ready for a new era of utility vegetation practices. Trees and power lines have had a contentious, adversarial relationship since the first poles went up. Utilities have historically viewed trees as an obstruction that is best removed from the electric system. VerdeCare is changing this industry view by defining trees as valuable assets to our communities and utilities. While trees can pose a risk to safe, reliable electric service, our utility vegetation practices mitigate that risk and ensure a utility corridor delivers more than just electricity. Our model supports corridors of power and habitat that bridge our communities to one another and nature.
