UTV, a music TV station that broke boundaries in Romania through technological innovation, concept and quality. Sorana was hands on in all of its activities, but developed special skills in music strategy, programming, and developing playlists. UTV had a number of accomplishments: • It was the first fully digital TV channel in Romania; • The first fully interactive TV channel in Romania – it is operated like a juke box; • It gained national cable distribution (25 channels compete for 5 available spaces on the cable grid) • Instantly took the pole position in ratings amongst the music channels (competing with 3 local channels, MTV and VH1) UTV maintains the lead position to date. • Promoted songs/artists that were ignored by the commercial stations and turned them into hits. • Around 90% of all public places that have TV screens in Romania have them tuned to UTV.
