USATF is the National Governing Body for cross country, mountain-ultra-trail, race walking, road running, and track & field in the United States, and encompasses the world's oldest organized sports, the most-watched events of Olympic broadcasts, the #1 high school and junior high school participatory sport and more than 30 million adult runners in the United States.
USATF Southern California is recognized by USATF as the local association governance board responsible for administering services to support and promote our sports: cross country, mountain-ultra-trail, race walking, road running, and track & field in the counties of Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. USATF Southern California acts as a service organization creating, conducting, and overseeing programs to provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to participate. Our members include: athletes of all ages, genders, and abilities; coaches and clubs; certified officials; local colleges and universities; and other organizations interested in supporting our sports.
As a local governing body, USATF Southern California protects the interests and eligibility of our member-athletes and establishes and maintains competition rules. At both the local and national level, USATF is a volunteer-based organization.
