Founded in 1990, UNICA is a network of 53 Universities from 40 capital cities in Europe, with a combined strength of over 150,000 staff members and more than 1,500,000 students.
Our vision is to be a driving force in the development of the European Higher Education and Research Areas and empower our Member Universities to unlock their full potential, putting knowledge, research, and innovation at the service of the needs of our societies and of the coming generations.
To achieve its aims UNICA articulates the views of member universities to European institutions and to national, regional and municipal governments. It provides the members with information on European initiatives and programmes, and supports them in co-operative projects.
Following its motto "Sharing, learning, adding value", UNICA Network offers its member universities a platform where different representatives of academic communities (among them academic leadership, academics, administrators, and students) can discuss current challenges in university education, research, administration, and societal engagement, share their practices, and reflect together on the demands of strategic change.
