UN Youth New Zealand is the largest youth-for-youth charitable organisation in Aotearoa! Our mission is to inspire global citizens. We host events to engage rangatahi in the most pressing affairs of Aotearoa and the international community.
Our mahi equips youth with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be engaged Kiwis. Annually, over 3,000 youth from Northland to Southland attend a UN Youth event.
Our Regional Councils in Auckland, Canterbury, Otago and Wellington run a range of secondary and tertiary events throughout the year.
Our National Committees organise three incredible events with fun workshops, committee sessions and outreach engagements for secondary students. Firstly, Aotearoa Youth Declaration is held in Auckland in April and focuses on assessing policies in Aotearoa. Secondly, NZ Model United Nations is held in Wellington in July and simulates committee sessions in the United Nations. Thirdly, NZ Model Parliament is held in Canterbury in September and simulates a bill passing through Parliament.
Our International Tour Directorships lead five international tours for secondary and tertiary students. Our secondary international tours include a study tour through Europe and the USA, a cultural exchange to Australia and the Pacific and a small delegation to UN Youth Australia’s Evatt Competition. Our tertiary international tours include a study tour to the USA and a study tour through South East Asia where they learn about globalisation.
Our organisation is powered by a body of over 150 passionate volunteers across the country who dedicate their time, energy and aroha to empowering young people and growing our impact.
