UDC is the Student Branch of American Institution of Aeronautics and Astronautics [AIAA] in Cairo University.with history that dates back to 2008,The Unmanned aerial systems developement center at Cairo University has been the plateform that allowed aerospace engineering students and post graduates to exercise and develope their knowledge to design, build and test
variuos types of UAV's to create solutions for the real world problems we face today. The centre has 4 teams that work on all the subsystems of the aircraft with an all round the year research cycle. The center support many levels of projects, from undergraduate to post-graduate researches. winning is in our DNA as the UDC has had its share of coming in the top ranks in many international UAV competitions and we intend to utilize our experience to intoduce our country and the region to the fast-growing global UAV industry and its applications.
Our teams:
1) Control team
The control team are those who are responsible for design, creation and validation of flight controllers to stabilize any air vehicle, and to add the autonomous capability to it to perform all sorts of missions.
The teams aim to create a reliable autonomous platform to produce verified results that are used in research, and to deploy such capabilities for various tasks.
2) Composites team
The main objective of the team is to master composite manufacturing techniques and use them to make UAVs and other products (for example : quads, wind turbines, rods, etc..
In the last year we have mastered some of these techniques and succeeded in manufacturing a full composite conventional UAV .
3) AIAA team
The team that represents Cairo uni. in the annual AIAA compitition in USA. The team has claimed top ranks there several times.
4) UAV challenge team
The team that represnts Cairo Uni. in the Australian UAV challenge.
5) Piloting team
Piloting team is responsible for testing and giving a feedback for all vehicles tested in our lab .
