Turnip & Duck is an award-winning, Dublin-based company producing a variety of work across TV, radio and digital platforms. Bringing together the producing and writing talents of Colm Tobin and Aidan O'Donovan, the company was established in 2016 to develop and produce original IP, with a particular focus on animation and off-kilter comedy for kids. They have just debuted Critters TV on RTÉjr, a live-action 2D-animation hybrid series, featuring animated wildlife characters watching live-action nature documentaries. They are also co-producing an original STEM-based chemistry primer for pre-schoolers, Atom Town, in association with Dublin studio Treehouse Republic.
Turnip & Duck have a slate of 5 projects across numerous genres currently in development, all with a comedy flavour, and two of which they intend to bring to market in Q3 2020 - Fadö Fadö, an original Preshcool+ formatted IP set around bedtime stories and Fishcat & Jack, a 2D comedy-adventure series for 6-11 year-olds set in the world's most dysfunctional theme park. As well as developing and producing their own IPs, Turnip & Duck also offers services to the wider animation and production sector in Ireland and beyond. Their expertise is in comedy writing, development, producing and VO directing but they love all sorts of collaborations!
Our most recent focus has been on creating a foothold in the domestic market and we have been successful in getting shows into production and on-air with the support of Screen Ireland, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTÉ and the s481 tax break.
Going forward, we intend to pitch our new shows, as well as distribute our existing content, to bigger broadcasters in the EMEA market. To that end, we have been forging relationships with broadcasters including Nickelodeon, Disney, Netflix and CBBC, as well as deepening our ties with UK studios and international distributors.
