About Our Founder
Tribal Business News is led by Levi Rickert, an American Indian journalist and tribal citizen of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. A decade ago, Rickert also founded Native News Online, one of the most-read daily American Indian news publications where he serves as publisher and editor. He was also the editor of Tribal Business Journal magazine, which was published between 2015 and 2019.
Over the years, Rickert has covered important events that affect Indian Country, including White House tribal nations conferences, Congressional hearings, the missing and murdered Indigenous women crisis, and the Standing Rock resistance to the Dakota Access pipeline.
A lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Rickert is the former executive director of the North American Indian Center of Grand Rapids and currently sits on the Grand Valley State University Native American Advisory Board.
