Trashmagination is a podcast about making art from recycled materials. It’s also about sharing creative reuse ideas for art and daily life.
I started making art from recycled materials in high school when I was studying for my International Baccalaureate at Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific. Mostly I made quilts and hooked rugs. While at Pearson, I volunteered on Hornby Island for service week. Hornby is a garbage-free island. It felt right.
When I was working at National Wildlife Federation from 2000-2014, I worked on many environmental topics, but I was most interested in reducing trash. I started blogging in 2012 and podcasting in 2017.
The name Trashmagination was inspired by a quote from artist Aaron Kramer - “Trash is a failure of imagination.”
