Transfield is a privately owned holding company with a portfolio of businesses focused on infrastructure, renewable energy and industrial services.
Transfield's current interests include Novatec Solar, Perisher and Sydney Harbour Tunnel.
Franco Belgiorno-Nettis established Transfield as a construction contractor in 1956. During its 40 partnership with the Salteri Family the company matured into a pioneer developer and contractor in the engineering and defence sectors, gaining extensive experience through its national and international operations. Transfield listed Transfield Services, its operations and maintenance division, in 2001 and sold its construction business in 2003.
Transfield has a proud history of supporting the arts. The company established the Biennale of Sydney in 1973 and remains the Founding Partner. Transfield has also supported the Australian Chamber Orchestra for over 15 years. In partnership with Transfield Services the company founded the Transfield Foundation in 2009. The Foundation’s mandate is to invest in innovative programs that help support communities, with particular emphasis on the arts, technology and education.
