Townsend Chartered Surveyors, founded in 1992, is an independent firm of land agents, valuers, surveyors and estate agents based in Exeter, Devon, offering traditional estate management, rural property management and consultancy and land agency services to farmers, tenants and landowners throughout the UK. We are also leading national farm quota agents for milk quota and Single Farm Payment entitlements and are known for our initiative and creativity in respect to schemes such as naked acre letting and hosting. This leading agency role enables us to provide proactive advice on the CAP reform and the implications for our clients, together with a much-needed RPA Dispute Resolution service which has a successful record in correcting RPA mistakes, tackling maladministration and recovering compensation for farmers.
With this background Townsend Chartered Surveyors is well placed to provide the specialist agricultural surveying services needed by farmers from traditional estate management to valuations, SP5 claims, digital mapping, RDP schemes including environmental stewardship, rent reviews, lettings, country house, land and farm sales.
Hugh Townsend has become a regular commentator in the agricultural press whose opinion is sought on land and rural property matters. Having been trained for twenty five years as an arbitrator he has represented many clients at court, tribunals as an advocate and expert witness. He also acts as an independent joint expert and is involved in resolving disputes on a regular basis.
We have been involved in the agricultural, residential and commercial property sectors as firm for now over twenty years. We believe in hard work, attention to detail, and an intelligent and open-minded approach to solving clients’ problems. We pride ourselves on being approachable and trustworthy, with surveyors specialising in their particular fields for whom reputation, relationships, innovation and service are at the heart of their approach.
