Tiny Toronto catalyzes attainable housing by creating a small footprint dwelling that can be produced off-site using Passive House principles and sustainable building technologies for the ultimate in space and energy efficiency.
The original bungalow belt that wraps around Toronto suburbs with wide lots and deep backyards have been absorbed by the city and are about to receive higher order transit. The framework we are creating has the potential to retrofit suburbia towards sustainable neighbourhoods by repurposing underutilized land into an independent dwelling; housing becomes attainable for the homeowner and tenant. When we apply the creativity from the core to the suburbs, the extreme spatial challenges fall aside and the imagination of the rest of North America can be captured.
