Thembani Africa Guarantee Fund (“TAG” or “Thembani”) is a for-profit company based in Maputo, Mozambique. It aims to capacitate SMEs and position them to participate in the mainstream economy. This is achieved through the development of an ecosystem that provides professional and technical support to local SMEs in key areas of business development and management, linkages to markets, and enabling access to credit through credit guarantee. TAG develops a steady pipeline for financial institutions and through its credit guarantee, shares the risk of lending to the SME sector. This allows financial institutions to extend their product offering to new markets.
