The Gazette is the student newspaper at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The Gazette publishes online daily and bi-weekly print editions during the fall and winter terms. Established in 1906, it moved from weekly to twice per week in 1948, started publishing four times a week in 1991, returned to the twice-weekly format in 2015 and moved fully online in 2019.
The paper's large staff, including three full-time front office editors, 20-30 section editors and dozens of volunteers, plus a full-time advertising and composing department, makes this publication’s schedule possible.
The editorial board is made of volunteer students, full-time and part-time staff. The Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor and Managing Editor are full-time salaried employees, usually recent graduates. The remaining editors are students who volunteer and receive an honorarium.
The Gazette, aside from publishing student-related content, serves as a training ground for those who want to venture in journalism and reporting.
