The Tangerine Owl Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Chicago's North Shore dedicated to providing support to families who have a baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and those who have experienced the loss of a baby for any reason. We offer support to families throughout Illinois, but welcome contact from those around the United States as well.
We have found the the emotional support for these families is crucial and often times, when they need support most, it's hard for others to relate if they have not experienced it for themselves. We are there to walk with these families through the grieving process, whether that means grieving the physical loss of a child or the loss of the ideal pregnancy, delivery, or newborn experience. We are here to connect families with each other, and we are here to guide the community in how to support their loved ones. We aim to help these families, and to advocate for open discussion of subjects that have been treated as "taboo", for maternal mental health, for awareness and more community resources regarding conditions effecting these families. There is comfort for these families when they know they aren't alone.
