The Sunflower, Wichita State University's student-run news source, has churned out news since 1896.
Currently published on Wednesdays in the fall and spring semesters, the paper aims to cover the issues that the university community is talking about or should be aware of, in addition to the events affecting Shockers.
Located for years in a sub-basement of Wilner Auditorium, one of the oldest buildings on campus, The Sunflower now resides in another basement - that of Elliott Hall.
It should be noted, however, that, aside from the housing arrangements, the newspaper has no affiliation with the School of Communication and is not produced by a class (as a "lab" paper).
All Sunflower employees are paid, and all are students. Staff members are always in demand as long as applicants are motivated and can work well on deadlines.
