Sport, and football in particular, is not just our passion, it is in our DNA.
The Sportsman was first published as a newspaper in 1865. The then Football Association secretary (and Sunderland born) Charles W Alcock wrote for the paper, and in 1871 he held a meeting at The Sportsman’s offices to create the world’s first national football tournament – the FA Cup.
Today, The Sportsman is a Manchester based, digital publication and our passion for sport remains as strong now as it did over 150 years ago. From fans to fashion, from nostalgia to today’s sporting heroes, we ignite conversations before, during and long after the game.
