The mission of The Shelter of Gaston County is to empower victims of domestic violence by providing emergency shelter, advocacy, and support on their journey to an abuse free life; and to lead the community in raising awareness of domestic violence and its devastating consequences.
The Shelter has housed Gaston County single women and women with their children since 1982. What started as a 3 bedroom 1 bath facility has grown into a new building that has been expanded and rennovated to meet The Shelter's growing needs. This growth has been made possible in part by the Gaston County Board of Commisioners, grants, and overwhelming community donation support!
