Check out www.PrimaDonnaReeds.com JC Ryder and Karena Reiter make great music together! Coming from seemingly opposite worlds, JC and Karena met in 2002, fell in love and married in 2007. He was as far from Rock & Roll as it comes - a classical guitar master who grew up in the East Village but didn't pay attention in the least to the very scene that surrounded him. She was a rock-music riveted club promoter and fanzine publisher. (An archive now, www.rock-the-world.com is still up and features a very young Matthew Bellamy of MUSE when he was an up & comer.) Karena dragged JC “kicking and screaming” to clubs like The Continental Divide and CBGB’s to see bone rattling loud bands, the unlikely pair walked down the aisle at the Carlyle Hotel. Karena insisted on eschewing hiring a cover band as entertainment instead of all of her blue-black haired pals from the L.E.S. to entertain the bemused guests. Then, it happened. Slowly at first, but picking up the momentum of late. JC became a rock and roll electric guitar junkie, spending more and more time wandering around The Guitar Center. The band came together after a few versions of the line-up, and started gigging at the usual L.E.S. clubs starting with Otto’s Shrunken Head. A longtime dear friend of Karena's, Luigi Scorcia, a respected actor, was at the first show and every show thereafter. He immediately saw the band's potential; Luigi signed on as the band's producer, joined the band on guitar, and used his well-heeled network to fast-track The PrimaDonna Reeds into the studio, where they have been hibernating for the past nine months. When they emerged, Luigi had joined the band as a third guitarist. The resulting CD, RED STILETTO, is just the beginning of The PrimaDonna Reeds' unique chemistry.
